Clete's Walk Off & Washburn's Tigers Debut & Daily Updates

Well Clete Thomas was called down to shorten up his swing. He must have been working on the long ball as well. Clete Thomas hit a walk off Home Run last night to give the Tigers a 6-5 victory over the Orioles. Last night when watching the game I just thought the Tigers would have to go into extras and try to pull out a win yet good Ol' Clete Thomas came through. It's great to pull out the win. It may just seem like only one win now but the games are starting to dwindle down and every game matters in the Central. If you didn't get a chance to see the walk off home run by Clete, head over to the Tigers MLB Website for the video.

On to other Tigers new today they will continue their series with the Orioles tonight at 7:05 pm EST and it will be on Fox Sports HD. Tonight the Tigers will send out newly acquired starting pitcher Jarrod Washburn. I always get excited to see how trades work out and this is no exception. I really hope Washburn can continue where he left off with the Mariners this season. Washburn will face the Orioles Brian Matusz.

I ran across a quote in the Detroit Free Press by Jarrod Washburn on how he has made changes this season and how its worked.

"It’s a little tiny thing, taking my hips forward, making it so I couldn’t collapse on my backside and staying taller got me through the ball and got the release point out farther," Washburn said.

"From there, it’s taken off, everything has become more sharp. I now have a sinker that sinks, my fastball goes in both directions, the changeup’s a little better and the breaking is a little sharper. That mechanical adjustment made everything that much better." (Thanks to Mark Snyder and the Detroit Free Press)

Also in other news Carlos Guillen is starting to throw the ball well and he could be playing if the Outfield as soon as next week for the Tigers. (Thanks to Jason Beck, Check out Beck's Blog on the Tigers)

Thats it for today, Remember to watch the Tigers tonight at 7:05 EST where Jarrod Washburn will be on the slab for the 1st time as a Tiger.
