Mets Want Avila Sr.

The reports are just in, according to the The Bergen Record the New York Mets asked Dave Dombrowski and the Tigers if they could sit down with Al Avila for consideration in there search for a new front office. The Tigers declined this invitation as its stated in Avila's contract that they have the right to make the decision.

I'm glad that they didn't let him talk with the Mets. Avila has been a nice fit with the Tigers front office and him and Dombrowski have a past with working together. He has also been a key voice in the youth movement of the current Tigers as well. Not to mention his son isn't a half bad catcher.

Adam Dunn A Tiger?

Could Adam Dunn become a Tiger? Well if Johnny Damon has any clue on what the Tigers are thinking it could be true. Johnny Damon was recently quoted as saying, "They (the Tigers) told me they are looking for a prototypical type DH like Adam Dunn." according to the New York Post.

I feel the Tigers are making the right move by not re-signing Damon because they have other issues we need to address. It may be nice to have Damon in the lineup but with Rayburn it seems like Damon may not be needed as badly as another big bat would in the lineup.

As far as Adam Dunn goes I wouldn't really hate seeing him in a Tigers uniform however he wouldn't come cheap. He does hit home runs at a great rate yet the batting average is never there. It should be an interesting chess match this season with the off season moves.

10-4-2010 Tigers Update

As you all know now the Tigers have finished the 2010 campaign at .500. The big story now is who will the Tigers bring back from the 2010 team.

My sources have indicated that Magglio's 15 million dollar optioned will not be picked up. This doesn't come as a surprise but this may not be the last you see of Maggs in a Tigers uniform. The reports out of Detroit indicate that he'd like to stay with the club.

To my disbelief have also already gave an offer to Inge's agent that would be a multi-year deal. Dombrowski have said that he would like to have Inge back. I really love his glove over at 3rd Base but I just don't think his bat will be there all the time like it has in the past.

Alex Avila is expected to be the everyday catcher for Detroit in 2011. This mean that Larid will not return or at least it seems that way. This means the Tigers will be looking for a right handed swinging backup catcher.

The Tigers also have an option to sign Jhonny Peralta. I really hope they would bring him back. He has looked great at the plate and can be a solid shortstop something that the Tigers desperately need.

It also looks like Bonderman and Damon are outta Detroit. It's possible that Bonderman may be back but it looks like its bye bye for Damon.

The Tigers now have some money to work with and it should be a very busy off-season. Let me know what you think about this upcoming off-season?
