Scott Sizemore Shows Promise; Will Represent Tigers in Futures Game

Detroit Tigers prospect Scott Sizemore will represent the Detroit Tigers in the 2009 Futures Game that takes place at 2 p.m. on July 12. It will be nationally televised on ESPN 2 . He currently plays for Triple A Toledo. I have gotten to see first hand the talent of Sizemore when he was playing for the Single A Affiliate West Michgan Whitecaps. He is solid in the field and also has a very nice eye. Check out an old blog post from the Official West Michigan Whitecaps Blog, The Surge. Its a Q&A with Scott Sizemore.

Let's hope the past can repeat itself with there being many current Tigers that were featured in the futures game in previous years. The list includes Justin Verlander, Brandon Inge, Edwin Jackson and Joel Zumaya.

Tune in on July 12 and watch some of the best prospects in the world play and root on Tigers prospect Scott Sizemore.

Tigers Win 6th Straight Game

How bout them Tigers!

The Tigers manage to win a close game by the score of 5 to 3. Miguel Cabrera added in his 15th Home Run of his 2009 campaign. Not to mention Gerry Larid's blast. (Gotta love it when he goes deep, its an added bonus) For awhile everything was getting tight in Detroit yet the Tigers held on to its 1st place spot and now have rallied and won six straight.

And in other Tigers news Magglio Ordonez has cut off his mop of hair and is now rolling with the short hair look. Of course the media had to ask him why this change came about. He replied "Hot," he said. and "Too heavy.". Maybe this will help turns things around for Maggs bat this summer. We'll have too see. Yet in the meantime check out the before and after pictures of Magglio. Props to Detroit 4 Lyfe for the images.

Raburn Plays Walkoff Longball

Well the Tigers picked up another win after a great pitching match up led to a Zumaya let down which then turned into a Raburn Walkoff HR. Its great to see him continue to put up Home Runs. Also it was nice to see the Jim Leyland that will mix it up as well. Another thing I would love to touch on was the change up by Zumaya. He was blowing people away with his fastball and just struck out the previous hitter. Instead Zum Zum located a circle change up that came right back over the plate and whack. Micah Hoffpauir is a great young talent and he showed he can take advantage of mistakes. That situation really got me thinking last night and for now I bet Joel will stick with the fastball more often. Yet the Tigers pulled it out in the end and how exciting it was too see. Check back sometime this weekend or next week for Copa Times 1st contest.

This should be a great series and everyone knows when the Tigers and Cubs play fans from both teams come out in bunches. Tonight the game will begin at 7:05 and will also be on in HD by Fox Sports Detroit. Slated to toe the mound is Carlos Zambrano & Edwin Jackson. Lets get off to a good start and BEAT THE CUBS!

Tigers take Drivers seat in Detroit

It was a good season and an exciting playoffs but now the Red Wings are officially defeated. Mr. Illich and the Wings put together another great season even though they came short of the cup. Well not that the Red Wings are done this leaves the stage for the Tigers.

Tonight the Detroit Tigers will take on the Pirates again. Tonight the the Buc's will throw pitcher Zach Duke. Duke is a soild pitcher that doesn't walk many, he also have a wicked curve ball that troubles lefty hitters. I feel the Tigers should fare with Duke on the mound.

Last but on least lets give a pat on the back to Mr. Porcello. Not only did he get the job done last night with his pitching but also with the Bat. Amazing!

Go Get Em Tigers

With The First Pick....

The Detroit Tigers selected right-handed Missouri high school pitching star Jacob Turner in the First Round of this years 2009 MLB First Year Draft. He was the 9th Overall Pick. Jacob stands 6 foot 5 inches and weights 205 pounds. He was 7-2 with a 0.60 earned run average as a senior. He struck out 113 batters and walked 13 in 58.1 innings.

Well the Tigers continue to go with more young arms and this was no surprise. This draft seemed to be a pitcher heavy draft. I'll be back with a post to sum up the Tigers 2009 Draft.
